Meet Lucas Holzmann

At Austin Hagee Law Firm, Lucas Holzmann brings a deep passion for justice, client advocacy, and compassionate criminal defense representation to every case he handles. Lucas joined the firm with a strong commitment to serving both clients and his team as a dependable and hardworking advocate willing to step in wherever he is needed. Clients appreciate Lucas for his approachable personality, calm demeanor, and ability to talk people through difficult and stressful situations in a way that makes them feel heard, informed, and supported. Whether preparing cases, handling court appearances, communicating with clients, or supporting the firm’s broader mission, Lucas approaches every responsibility with professionalism, urgency, and genuine care for the people he serves.

A graduate of St. Mary’s University School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor while serving in the school’s highly regarded Criminal Defense Clinic, Lucas gained hands-on experience representing clients charged with both misdemeanor and felony offenses. He drafted and argued complex motions and writs, including motions to compel, motions to set aside, and writs of habeas corpus. He conducted extensive investigations, worked directly with witnesses and experts, and provided compassionate representation to individuals facing life altering criminal charges who otherwise may not have had access to quality legal representation.

His commitment to criminal defense is rooted in more than legal knowledge. It is driven by genuine empathy for people going through some of the most difficult moments of their lives which is what the Austin Hagee Law Firm values most. Lucas understands that good people can find themselves trapped in difficult situations, and he is deeply committed to standing beside his clients every step of the way while aggressively protecting their rights, freedom, and future.

In addition to his courtroom and clinic experience, Lucas served as a Dean’s Research Fellow where he conducted advanced legal research involving law review publications, legislative history, and criminal case law. His commitment to preparation, communication, and client service makes him a welcomed member of the team at Austin Hagee Law Firm.

Beyond his legal practice, Lucas has dedicated countless hours to public service and community advocacy throughout Texas. He has worked with Texas RioGrande Legal Aid and participated in the Center for Legal and Social Justice ID Recovery Program, helping individuals obtain important identifying documents and access critical resources. Lucas has also served as a mentor through the Bexar County Juvenile Probation Department, helping guide at-risk youth toward a better future.

His dedication to mentorship, justice, and rehabilitation reflects his broader belief that the legal system should not simply punish. It should also protect constitutional rights, uphold fairness, and recognize the humanity of every individual.

Lucas is a member of the San Antonio Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the National Lawyers Guild, and several other advocacy focused legal organizations. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in English, cum laude, from Texas A&M University, where he developed the communication and analytical skills that continue to serve his clients today.

Whether appearing in court, communicating with clients, or supporting his colleagues behind the scenes, Lucas approaches every matter with dedication, compassion, and a strong belief in fighting for people when they need it most.
